A hat-trick by Iskandar and a brace from Soerensen propelled the International team to the top albeit by a goal difference and having played two games more from Afifi United who is leveled with 16 points. The result overturned a 0-1 loss earlier in the season which is best remembered for the off the field fracas at the end of that game.
The match started with the team coming out with a gameplan to snuff out excess baggage and off the ball incident which was the focal talking point in the first meeting. With a solid platform at the back with the likes of Zhuoneng, Jorgensen, Vincent and Jakob, the Sharks were repelling the earlier attacks by the opposition particularly with Jensen who was excellent throughout the game in protecting his back-four. That leaves Soerensen focusing on the job upfront and his early intent was clear in the first few exchanges after having gone barren in the last two games. Right on 10 mins, an inter-change of quick passes between Moeller and Soerensen leaves the latter opening the floogates. Six minutes later, the Sharks were two up courtesy of Iskandar who timed his run to perfection off a pass from Soerensen and he cooly slotted his goal pass the stranded custodian. White Wolfton was still recovering from the two goals before Soerensen added his second and Sharks third after a fumble from the opposition's custodian. Three goals in the bag at half-time and Sharks were intent not to let it slip away as they scored a fourth thru Iskandar 4 minutes after the restart with the simplest of touch in an open net after some hard work from Asawin who managed to slip pass the onrushing sweeper and custodian. Iskandar completed his hat-trick with yet another simple tap-in, in a move which was started by Robert who came on in the second-half. Mid-way into the second-half, White Wolfton snatched a goal back which later proved to be mere consolation. Sharks had a glut of opportunities but they were unable to punished the opposition.
The beaming manager commented, 'It was clinical finishing and stout defending which won the game today. The scoreline is rather harsh for the opposition but they had ample opportunities to narrow the deficit but somehow, this wasn't their day as Sharks escaped with a couple of goal-line clearances.'
