It was more than a year since Sharks last played in their old playground at Bradell-Westlake and not much have changed since their last visit on 2nd January 2005. With several tuned-up games prepared for the Sharks before the big kick-off on 22nd November, the team is looking to build on the camaraderie and teamplay on the field in the match against an unknown opposition.
The showers an hour before kickoff meant that ground play was an impossible task and the greasy pitch meant that both teams had to take route one; long ball. The only action however for the first half was a missed penalty by the opposition conceded by Charlson plying in his new position as both teams ended the first half goalless. Second-half were not much difference as players had to scrap for any decent possesions and control before Sharks were knocked back as they conceded a poor goal. It was not long before Kim Hwa levelled things up with a beauty outside the penalty box which caught the opposition's custodian off his line. Despite the nature of a match which bear no consequences, things got heated up but play resumed shortly before Sharks were down again. A goal down they were but Sharks kept pushing before Zul came up with a piledriver from 35 metres which skidded off the surface and into the back of the net.
'The boys gave as hard as they took in the match but perhaps the opposition just can't accept that fact when they gave as hard. But the game provided some insights on what to expect in the IWL,' said the manager referring to the incident in the second-half.
