Sharks takes a stand

With only 2 matches played over the weekend including Sharks game, it looks like the league are going thru a stalemate where teams not in the running for the top 3 placing are no longer interested in fielding a team for their matches. This despite the organisers taking a tough stance to penalise teams not taking further part to complete their fixtures. Sharks however are taking a stand that they will not be made makeweights just so that the top 3 teams can be decided by playing these teams. History have shown in our previous game that once the top 3 have been decided, the league will cease.

The manager reacted angrily, ‘Why are we trying to our best to field a team despite the numerous injuries when the rest takes the fixtures for granted? Our stand remains that we will play teams we have yet play in the first round. Since most of the top teams are near completion, it’s not our fault that these teams have played more games than us. The fact that 5 of our games were postponed were beyond our control. While some do have their reasons for not making the fixture, it frustrating when reasons given are having not enough players. I believe we would have a better stand using that as an excuse. While the organisers have maintained that the league will complete, it already sounds like a broken record with numerous promises to take action not materialising.’

With the recent announcement that Sharks are making their participation in ESPZEN a regular fixture in their calendar, we’ll hope that this issue will not be making a comeback.
