Sharks were left to rue their opportunities in front of goal when they let slip and allow SCC Tigers to come back twice in the game as both teams shared the spoils in a pulsating 3-3 encounter at Dempey Field on Sunday. SCC drew first blood but they quickly drew level courtesy of Naoki. The winger then gave his team a 2-1 lead after half-time but that lead was quickly erased as the sleeping Sharks defense allow the oppositions to drew level in the next minute. The team then took the lead yet again to make the score 3-2 and with SCC down with 10 men, the game look set to end in favor of Sharks before they came up with a leveler 5 minutes to time.
Both teams started the game strongly but the Sharks were having a larger opportunities in front of goal. Man of the match Naoki quickly showed that he fired up for today's game when he tested the opposition custodian early in the game which gave his team their first corner of the match. At the other end, the defense held strongly against the new comers in the lead and just as quickly, a couple of opportunities were presented further in Sharks favor but they were unable to capitalise on the chances which came their way. Murugesan on the other hand was having a field day upfront but he was unable to cap his blistering performance with a goal. As the Sharks grew impatient, passes went astray in the final third and SCC probably nicked their goal against the run of play when Jeffrey lost sight of his marker. The goal didn't dampened the team as they look for the equaliser and were quickly rewarded when Brendan found Naoki free on the left and the winger sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to notch his first goal of the season as both teams goes into halftime with the score tied at 1-1.
Second half started with Sharks trying to break the tight SCC midfield as Jiayong and Jensen came tearing away to win the midfield battle. Nonetheless, Sharks 2nd goal came off a corner when Heng Li's flick at the near post found Naoki unmarked in the box and the winger let fly to give his team the lead. The jubilation was short-lived when almost straight from the kickoff, the defense and midfield were caught ball watching as SCC nicked the leveler to bring the score to 2-2. On the other end, Murugesan were yet again presented with a couple of one-on-one chances but he couldn't find the back of the net. Nonetheless, Sharks got back into the driving seat when guest player Adebola flicked the ball over the custodian for Sharks 3rd. Shortly afterwards, SCC was done to 10 man after a 2nd bookable offence and as Sharks looked to find that elusive 2 goal cushion, SCC never gave up to look for the equaliser. They almost leveled the game when a shot was deflected off Jorgensen and Michael was sent the wrong way but Sharks had the bar to thank for as the ball rebounded to safety but their luck ran out when they fail to defend a corner and SCC put past the stranded Michael in goal as both teams shared the spoils.
The manager commented, 'It is the same old story for the defense as they fail yet again to defend in the final 10 minutes of the game. These are the kind of games which probably will haunt the team come end of the season.
