Central Park played only their 2nd game of the new season to date and they kept up with early pace-setters in the division with a thumping 8-1 victory over Olympique Singapore on Sunday. A double from Naem and Isaac and a goal each from Heng Li, Kit, Fadley and Kelvin Lee ensured the 3 points in a match which could have easily seen the Sharks winning by a far bigger margin if they had been more clinical in front of goal.
The team started with the likes of Michael Wong and Muzzammil missing from the lineup with Kamal Dani serving out his one match suspension. The opposition though were first off the blocks but it was Sharks which took the lead early in the game when Heng Li released Naem on the left and the latter let fly an unstoppable shot which could only be palmed into goal. Five minutes later, new boy Fadley added his name to the scoresheet after some good work from Heng Li who was having a good game in midfield and he rounded his great half by giving back his team's two goal cushion after Olympique Singapore pulled a goal back midway into the first half. The opening exchanges in the second-half though put Sharks on the backfoot as the opposition tried to rally their troops back into the game. They could have narrowed the deficit when a dangerous cross found their unmarked forward but he fluffed his chances and the boys in yellow were relieved. On the other end, Sharks got their fourth of the game when a Fadley's corner found Kelvin Lee unmarked at the far post and he made no mistake from six yards. The opposition though were not about to give up the game as they continued to put pressure on the Sharks defense which at times were found in disarray. Nonetheless, a crazy five minutes spell saw Sharks notched four goals in quick sucession with Isaac claiming a double while Kit his team's seventh and Naem putting the final nail with his 2nd and his team 8th of the game.
The manager commented, 'No complains when you win by such a margin but if the Sharks were sharper, it could have easily been one of those days.'
