Match Report

Sharks had an enforced break of 4 weeks coming into the game due largely to the poor weather which made most of the pitches around the island unplayable. At the back of the players mind have to be the absence of 5 regular players for their match against Mystic Footballers. To make matters worse, Salihin had to limp off 15mins into the game with a knee injury and with the lack of cover in defence, new Sharks player Wayne had to be introduced earlier than what the manager would have liked to do. If that wasn't bad enough, stand-in custodian Suhaime had to come off shortly afterwards when he injured his back while trying to stop a goal bound effort. That just sums up the day the Sharks had.

It all started brightly for the Sharks when Kit opened his accounts for the club with his first ever goal against the run of play with a poweful drive then dipped at the right moment leaving the opposition stranded. If that wasn't enough, he added another in similar fashion. A couple of glit edge chances fell to Asnawi and Michael to increase the lead but they failed to capitalise of the opposition shaky defending. That all changed however when the opposition pulled a goal back and off came Suhaime who injured himself trying to save his goal. With no known goalkeeper in the Sharks lineup, the responsibility were passed on to Syafiee whose inexperience in his enforced position provided the opposition with the confidence to take something from the game. The second-half were a story of misses when Michael got himself in good position to reduce the deficit but failed miserably. As the match wore on, the 4 weeks absence of competitive matches began to show on the players as the opposition run rings around the Sharks. Despite the heavy defeat, the positive that could be taken from the game was the 2 goals from Kit coming from midfield. Maybe the Sharks can expect more goal from the rest of the midfielders in the coming games. The manager commented after the game;

'It was bad enough to start the game with 5 regulars missing from the team. But to lose another key defender and a goalkeeper with no cover on the bench just sums up the luck the team had.'
