It was back to league action for Central Park and they couldn't have started on a better note when they notched a convincing 5-2 win over ESPZEN Gogooryo on Sunday. A double from chief striker Heng Li, debutant Kay Wee and a goal from the soon departed Alejandro gave the team a good start to the new season in Division 6
Sharks took the early initiatives and were quickly putting the home side on the backfoot with Kay Wee unlucky not to put his team up when his cross-shot hit the post while midfield lynchpin Muzzammil had his effort tipped over the post when it look to have found the back of the net. The opposition have yet to get into the flow of the game when Heng Li gave his team the lead when he got to the end of a long pass from Kelvin Tan. They went two up a minute later when Kay Wee got his debut goal from sheer determination after some hesistant goalkeeping for Gogooryo. That seemed to awake the Koreans into action and they had a couple of opportunities to pull themselves back into the game. Sharks though extended their lead just before half-time when Alejandro capped his impressive afternoon with an individualistic goal. The second-half barely started when Heng Li notched his second of the afternoon when Muzzammil found him with a peach of a pass. Gogooryo got their goals midway into the second-half before Kay Wee came back into the game and notched his second for himself and his team's fifth as they ran out comfortable winners.
The manager said after the game, 'It was important to get going in a new season and they boys got the result they wanted.
