Match Report

Central Park bounced straight back from their 7-0 massacre two weeks ago with a morale boosting 3-1 win over Simei United welcoming the likes of Isaac, Kelvin and Muzzammil back to the team. Leading by a goal courtesy of Isaac in the first minute at the end of the first half, Muzzammil gave his team a two goal cushion in the second half before Azman made sure of the win shortly afterwards.

With the continued absence of frontman Heng Li who is out due to a hamstring injury, it was up to Isaac to lead the line and he showed what the team were missing in the last two games when he latched on from Kelvin's pin-point pass, beat his marker and caught Simei's custodian off the line to give his team an early lead, just a minute after kickoff. The goal didn't dampen the young spirits of Simei as they began to control the tempo of the game but were often caught on two minds in the middle of the field as Sharks closed down their man down quickly. Midway into the first-half, both Jiawen and Isaac had an opportunity to increase the lead but were let down by some good goalkeeping from the opposition as the team retired for half-time holding on to the slim 1-0 lead. Second half started slowly for the Sharks and they were caught napping in the opening exchanges but Simei were unable to capitalise on the opportunity. Against the run of play, Sharks increased their lead when Michael's cross were fumbled and it fell invitingly for Muzzammil who made no mistake from the opportunity. Ten minutes later, Sharks broke Simei's heart with a third. Azman taking down Kit's cross from the left, shimmed pass his marker and planted a low shot pass the despairing custodian. Towards the end of the game, Simei got their consolation off a corner but Sharks held on for the much deserved win.

The manager commented, 'The team had to bounce back quickly after their recent loss and getting a result for today's game was important and they delivered against a quality opposition.'
