Central Park v Kallang CS

Sharks made a mockery of the league leaders rear-guard, which boasted the best defensive records by finding the net five times but alas, it was not enough to their end run of defeats when the they went down 5-6 to the leaders, Kallang CS. The game was end-to-end with the leaders taking the lead after another error from Sharks guardian, Isa which he was totally deceived by the bounce of the ball on the greasy surface. If the leaders thought that goal was enough to seal the game considering their much touted defensive record, Sharks had other ideas when Brendan ended his barren run with a classic chip at the edge of the box which totally caught Kallang keeper off-guard.

If they thought that goal was a fluke, Heng Li provided further evidence of Kallang weakness between the post when he scored with a perfect chip from almost the half way line. However the joy was short-lived when Kallang came back yet again. The lead was then restored when goals from Michael and Heng Li shortly afterwards provided the Sharks with a 4-2 lead before Sharks custodian yet again failed to hold on a stiff grounder and provided Kallang a way back into the game just before the break. Half-time score 4-3.

The second-half started rather meekly with most of the battles fought in midfield. Despite the Sharks valiant effort, Kallang came back with the leveler when yet again, Isa failed to cleanly gather the ball and the loose ball was easily slotted into the gaping goal with Isa totally stranded. As luck would have it, the leaders took the lead when Suhaime conceded an own goal after trying but failing to clear a corner. With the game at 5-4 in favor of Kallang, all hopes were extinguished when Salihin was adjudged to have brought down Kallang forward in the box and was awarded a penalty which they easily converted with 10mins to go. Just when we thought that's the end of the script, Kallang custodian made a hash off a goal-kick with a school boy error and gifted Heng Li an opportunity which he duly obliged to complete his hat-trick.

An overall a much better performance from the Sharks as compared to their last outing but it seems the Sharks manager is slowly losing his patience with his custodian after yet another indifferent outing. Another interesting twist after the game was that an approach was rumored to have been made by the opposition on one of Sharks defensive lynchpin to bolster their own defence . The unnamed player were clearly flattered but reiterated, "Thanks, but no thanks!". The manager was clearly as bemused as the player in question when pressed for comments. All in all, the game was played in a good natured way from both teams.

Despite the Sharks fourth defeat in the row, results from other matches meant that there are no changes in their league position which is currently in 6th.
