It was perhaps one of those games whereby dominating a game doesn't necessarily equates to winning as FC Anri showed the way to goal and kept to their good start to the league with maximum points, no thanks to some dismal and at times shocking defending by the Sharks who had no answer to the opposition's direct play. To be fair however, the midfield quartet of Jeremy, Shahrizad, Kit and Nick were just non-existent and placing added pressure to an already frail defence.
Central Park couldn't have wished for a worse start after they conceded a penalty early in the game after an innocuous tackle combo from Brent and Kelvin who clearly played the ball first and cleared for a corner but the man-in-black saw something which bemused both players. Before that, Ryan had a chance to put the team in the lead but he fluffed his shot with Anri's custodian stranded. Sharks however were right back in the game when Sharizad slide-rule pass found Li who was lurking in the box. The equaliser was short-lived as Sharks conceded another when the defence was caught flat-footed. As both teams cancelled each other out, FC Anri went into the break a goal up. The second-half started brightly for Sharks and they made their intentions clear from the start as JJ had a glorious drive which was destined for goal at the bottom right well-palmed by Anri's custodian who is having a screamer. In between Sharks incursion to search for the equaliser, Anri added another after an indifferent defensive lapse from Yi Quan. Late in the game, the opposition scored their fourth with Sharks clearly fighting a lost cause. Shah had a chance to pull a late consolation but he missed from six yards, a typical story for him for the year.
'The only positive we can take from the game is the boys kept playing till the final whistle', said the manager.
