Sharks inconsistent season continues as they let slip a 2-1 lead at half-time to go down 3-4 after Michael in goal had a game to forget in the second half with a second half clanger. Isaac ended his goal drought to put Sharks in front after 25 minutes. The lead was shortlived as Charlson conceded an unneccessary penalty much to the dismay of his manager. Nonethless, Sharks regained the lead to go into the break after Jeffrey put his team in front, his first goal since 2008. Aioli United came back strongly in the second half and a clanger by Michael meant that the team was leveled. Thereafter, his confidence took a dive when he was caught in no-man's land off a corner. The crazy 10 minute spell ended with Aioli scored their fourth before Sharks pulled a goal back with just 10 minutes remaining but they were unable to find the elusive equaliser and chances and chances came begging.
The team started the game on the backfoot and with news of defensive midfielder being dropped for poor performance for the remainder of the season, Brendan took his place in the middle of the park. Jeffrey kept his starting place after an encouraging run-out in the last game against Gabrielite but the first few exchanges belonged to Aioli who kept the ball close to their feet. Nonetheless, the first meaningful opportunity fell to Harold who could not get his shot off after the opposition defender made an uncanny mistake. Sharks regain their momentum as the game wore on and Isaac kicked off his goal tally for the year when he latched on an innocuous ball from Zhuoneng. That lead was shortlived when at the other end, Charlson conceded a penalty which Aioli dispatched without any problem. The game opened up a little and just before half-time, Harold found Jeffrey lurking just outside the area and the latter finished with aplomb, giving the custodian no chance.
The second half started with Sharks intent to build on their lead, however the boys in yellow failed to make any headways and in certain circumstances, it seemed that complacency began to creep in with the final pass either were found wanting or ended up with a poor shot at goal. Aioli took the initiative with some crisp and direct play but their leveler came off from one of their many dangerous corners. The first came off after Michael dropped the ball in front of an opposing player while Aioli's third came after Michael failed to make any meaningful connection off yet another corner. In just a few minutes, Sharks were down 2-3 and it got worst as a quick counter found the Sharks defense in disarray as they notched their fourth. Sharks narrowed the deficit after Harold's free-kick found the back of the net and despite pegging the opposition's into their own half for the remainder of the game; Sharks ran out of ideas and were unable to breach the opposition's defense. Aioli could have made the game safe but a miskick in an almost open net meant that they were left for dear life come the final whistle.
The manager which was clearly unhappy commented, 'It was a bad goal to put the opposition back in the game and frustrating to see the team fighting for 80minutes and be decided in a lack of concentration, not once but twice. To score 3 in a tight division and still go home empty handed, it leave many dumbfounded.
