Sharks ended their debut ESPZEN season on a low note after they went down 1-4 at Katong Pitch against second-placed AIG FC. It was an inconsequential game for both teams as the title has been decide a forthnight ago which was eventually won by Unknown Boys albeit with much controversy.
Asawin gave the team the lead in the first half after some intense pressure in the AIG's camp particularly with Chris leading out the team for the first time and he played like a player being possessed. Despite the low key game, both set of players were playing their hearts out to finish the season on a high. Sharks lineup for the game which includes no less than 7 players who have showed intent to join the team for next season were particularly looking to impress and impressed they did with several making some eye-catching performances which probably could bolster the team for next year. While Sharks gaining a slim lead at half-time, AIG came back strongly to finish the game and season on a high in the second-half. Chris who was playing like a man on a mission had a couple of opportunities to narrow the deficit but were denied by some excellent goalkeeping and even the crossbar.
The manager commented, 'It was nice to the trialist who came for the game today and we could probably see some of them donning the Sharks jersey next season. Results aside, the players did pretty well but there were some school-boy errors in the second-half which was punished by AIG. Nonetheless, we wish to thank the players for coming in numbers despite the inconsequential game and it was nice to see the IWL players coming in to support the team.;
