Sharks debut in the EOEFL Cup ended in defeat as they went down 1-2 to British Club over at Bukit Timah field on Saturday. The home team took the lead when Sharks failed to clear a corner before Hamdani leveled the game shortly after the restart. As the game looked headed for a draw, British Club notched the winner after a howler from Daniel who misjudged the flight of the ball.

The match started with Sharks gaining the upperhand with several forays upfront with the likes of Heng Li, Muzzammil and Naoki linking up well but despite the massive openings created, the boys in yellow just can't seemed to find the end product as they took one touch too many when presented with a sight on goal. The opposition had chances of their own particularly in their set-pieces when they came close on a number of occasions but both team failed to break the dreadlock as the game ended 0-0 at half-time. Second-half started on a poor note as the opposition opened their accounts when Sharks failed to deal with a corner. With the initial header being cleared off the line, the team failed to react quickly as the rebound found the back of the net. The lead didn't last long as a quick counter initiated by Heng Li found Jiawen in space. He in turn found Hamdani who turned his marker inside out and found the top corner of the net for the leveler. As the game wore on, both teams had chances to win the game but British Club had the final say when a free-kick from outside the area were floated into the box and was mis-judged by Daniel in goal.

The manager commented, 'We didn't deserve neither to win nor lose the game. To be honest, we didn't create any clear cut chances in front of goal despite some good build-up play. On the other hand, it was a pain to watch a poor referee for a competitive game when several ankle breaking tackle just goes unpunished. That's just poor.'
