Bonjol Wanderers v Central Park

It was perhaps the game that changed how the Sharks season turned out when they lost 0-1 in their first meeting against Bonjol Wanderers. That defeat started Sharks terrible run of 5 consecutive defeats. In that game, the culprit-in-chief was Heng Li who missed a couple of sitters and he was intent to make up for his disappointment in this return leg.

The Sharks were the first team off the mark as they knew that they had to score first in order for Bonjol's stubborn defence, who tend to sit back once they have the lead to come out. Indeed, the first half was one that consists of hard running and fluid movement from the boys in yellow. Before they knew it, the opponents back four were caught out flat by quick interchange of passes from the Sharks attackers and Heng Li made up for his disappointment by opening his accounts with a looping shot that sailed over the custodian after a neat pass from Ryan. Suhaime then added his name to the score-sheet shortly after with only the custodian to beat off a pass from Ryan again. It was a relieved for Suhaime to get his name on the scoresheet since his last goal in April due to poor form and lack of opportunities. The first half ended with the Sharks taking a 2-0 lead. In the second-half, it came as a surprise when the opponents started with a much more defensive formation and it somehow did the trick when Sharks were unable to build on their lead. When the chances came however, Sharks twin strikers, Ryan and Li were unable to capitalise on numerous occasions. With 10mins to go, Bonjol struck to decrease the deficit and despite some nervy defending, the Sharks consolidate and were relieved to hear the final whistle. It would have been a different story if Bonjol have pulled one back in a game where both teams played hard and with the right spirit.
