EFL Challenge Cup

The date has been set. The players are ready. For the first time, Central Park will go head-to-head against the Singapore Vikings in the EFL Challenge Cup which will run from 5th July to 3rd August 2008. The match-up would prove to be an interesting duel with the likes of Michael Jorgensen, Michael Jensen, Thomas Soerensen, Soren Larsen and Lars Moeller turning out for the opposite sides against team-mates such as Vincent Tan, Ng Heng Li, Alagu Murugesan, Syed Iskandar and many more. This after the Sharks were grouped together with the Vikings in Group A alongside British Club who have just captured the EOEFL Cup recently and Conchise-Kings.

In Group B, we will see the Vietnamese outfit of Fighting Cocks, the Irish team in the form of Hibernians, FC Nippon for the land of the rising sun and Youth All-Star. The competition will be played in a single round robin group matches with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the Semi-Finals where they will face off again to decide who have the right to represent the group in the Finals. All the games will be conducted with 1 referee and 2 linesman.

‘With the current league season in a break, the tournament would most probably be used more for trialist to don the Sharks jersey in the new season,’ said the manager. Nonetheless, with the rumor going on in the backstage about the plight of Naoki’s who will be part of the Vikings setup for the new Cosmoleague season, the question on everyone’s lips would be if he will be donning the white of Vikings or the yellow for the Sharks.
