East of Anfield v Central Park
27/03/05

Sharks had to thank Man of the Match Isa for the second consecutive game yet again after they barely managed to scrape through a narrow 2-1 win against East of Anfield which is still looking for their first elusive win in the competition after narrow losses to Football Crazy and Aces United coming into this fixture. It was no surprise when EOA were off the blocks early in the game with the Sharks being pegged back for most of the first half. It was however the Sharks who took the early lead after captain Jeremy scored off a beautifully-flighted free-kick just outside the box to calm early jitters for his team. Before EOA could regain their composure, they were down by two goals after some quick thinking from Heng Li allowed Suhaime to score his fourth goal of the campaign.

If the Sharks thought that the second-half would just be a formality, EOA thought otherwise as they started with renewed vigor after the break. EOA laid a siege on the Sharks half at the start of the second-half and began to pile the pressure only to be denied by poor finishing and the man in between the post, Isa. It wasn't until the final 10 mins that EOA managed to pull a goal back to setup a tense finale but the Sharks held on for 3 points even after losing defensive lynchpin Salihin, due to an ankle injury at the closing moments. It was definitely not the best performance by the Sharks and to be honest, a draw would have been a fair result for both teams.
