Match Report

Outplayed and outgunned as Sharks went down 1-3 to a vibrant and energetic Admiralz at First Toa Payoh Secondary on Sunday. Harold gave his team the lead in the first half but Admiralz, which was kept knocking on Sharks door in the irst half finally found the break-thru in the second-half and they never looked back after levelling the score to register their first ever win after 8 games.

Sharks were forced to switch their line-up with Ian starting his first game as Isaac and Rowen were forced to miss to game. That proved later on as pivotal as Sharks were totally pegged back in their half for most of the game. The game started with the oppostion passing the ball confidently as they tried to look for gaps in the Sharks lineup. As the game wore on, Sharks took advantage with their first foray upfront as Ian laid back for Harold to put the ball in the empty net in the 15th minute. That seemed to put a little breather for Sharks but the goal seemed to galvanized the opposition as they raid forays after forays with Zhuoneng and Charlson having a tough time in their shift.

Admiralz almost level the score midway in the first half but somehow the forward missed from six yards. Sharks on the other hand were commiting unnecessary infringements in their half and they almost scored with a thunderous free-kick which left Michael relieved in goal. The last action of the half handed Admiralz a glorious opportunity to level the game but a last ditch clearance by Vincent ensured that his team held on the sleder lead at half-time.

The second half started with Sharks holding off attack after attack and it finally came when Zhuoneng were caught in two minds to leave his marker with the simplest task to tap the ball home from close range. He ended his torrid afternoon when his misplaced pass was intercepted by Admiralz which let to the second. Admiralz completed the comeback with an opportunistic header which left Michael stranded. Despite Sharks trying to come off their shell, it proved too little too late as they succumbed to their first defeat of the season.

The manager commented, 'We were totally outwitted in the game and Admiralz deserved to collect their first ever win of the season. We were totally played off the park by a very good team who doesn't deserved to be in the position that they are in. On another note, the manager wishes to wish the everyone a Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year! Those who need to brush up their stamina, do so in the next two week.
